The story of 1Call1Click.ca begins with the creation of the Kids Come First Health Team.
The Kids Come First Health Team
In 2019, the Government of Ontario announced the Kids Come First Health Team as an innovative team included in its plan for the transformation of health-care delivery in Ontario. Including more than 60 organizations, family/caregiver and youth partners, nearly 1,100 doctors and thousands of individuals the Kids Come First Health Team made a commitment to the children, youth and families/caregivers, in the regions that it serves, to improve both the quality of care being provided to them and their access to it. The Kids Come First Health Team is doing this in meaningful, hands-on ways that have a direct, positive impact on children and youth.

1Call1Click.ca is a coordinated and collaborative response to something expressed many times by many children, youth, families/caregivers and care providers alike: “I don't know where to go for help. Which service is best for my needs?”
This is completely understandable. There are more than two dozen organizations and countless care providers delivering mental health, addictions, substance use health and neurodevelopmental health care in the region, many with specialized programs.
Despite the best efforts of those working to improve mental health, addictions, substance use health and neurodevelopmental health care, children, youth and families/caregivers know that services can be difficult to access. Sometimes these services can also look and feel different, depending on where you live.
It can be really hard to find the right information and choose which number to call, especially when help is needed most.
The Kids Come First Health Team created 1Call1Click .ca in response to community members wanting a better way to connect local children, youth and families/caregivers to the right mental health, addictions, substance use health and neurodevelopmental health services at the right time.
Kids Come First Health Team partners designed 1Call1Click.ca to simplify things and be a regional child and youth mental health, addictions, substance use health and neurodevelopmental health system, which links together existing child and youth mental health, addictions, substance use health and neurodevelopmental health services.
Dedicated to the needs of children and youth first, 1Call1Click.ca is here to partner with children, youth and families/caregivers. Some of 1Call1Click.ca goals are to make it faster and easier to access mental health, addictions, substance use health and neurodevelopmental health services and to help match the best available options to those in need of help.
1Call1Click.ca provides three types of services:
1. A source of information about the system itself and available resources.
2. A service to help children, youth, families/caregivers and care providers access and connect to the right mental health, addictions, substance use health and neurodevelopmental health services at the right time.
3. A case-coordination service for children and youth with complex needs.
