Mental Health & Addictions

Kids Come First prioritized Mental Health and Addictions bringing together over 25 child and youth Mental Health and Addictions service providers who have banded together to collaboratively solve problems children, youth and families are facing in the current health care system. The Mental Health and Addictions table partners committed to producing tangible and meaningful improvements to quality and access for our region’s families and for all providers who care for them. Specifically, our collective worked towards establishing 1Call1Click.ca, a regional child and youth mental health system across the continuum of care by linking together the services of our specialized child and youth mental health providers. 1Call1Click.ca is a bilingual coordinated access to services for children, youth, families and primary care providers in addition to coordinated care for children and youth with complex mental health and/or addiction needs whose needs are not being met by the current system.

The co-design of 1Call1Click.ca included family and youth leads as well as a diverse team of experts in system navigation and access with the goal of creating a coordinated access and care coordination program that meets the needs of those needing help to access the right services at the right time. 1Call1Click.ca is now available since Spring of 2021 and more information available on the website.

The Mental Health and Addictions Working Group  is in the process of planning the strategic priorities that might be at the top of the list for The Kids Come First Health Team to tackle next.
